Dear Parents or Guardians,
Your child participates in Leveled Literacy Intervention, or LLI. He/she will have a 30/45-minute lesson four to five times weekly in which we will read, write, and learn about phonics. The small-group LLI lessons are given in addition to the regular reading instruction that your child receives in the large-group classroom.
Every other night, your child will bring home a "take-home" book (grades K-2) which is a copy of the book that we've read at school that day. Your child can read the book to anyone at home each night and then keep the book in a safe place to revisit and read again later. The expectation is that your child will read the "take-home" book aloud to you every night. In 3rd and 4th grades, your child will bring home books, but must return these to school after reading them.
In addition to the "take-home" book, your child may bring another paper home (reading log, fold sheet, sight word practice, fluency practice), that can/should be completed additionally at home.
If you'd like more information about the LLI program, please let your child's Title I or Reading Intervention teacher know.
Sincerely,
The BBHCSD Title I and Reading Intervention Teachers
