iReady
The iReady Reading Assessment is taken 3 times per school year for every child in BBH Schools grades K-8. Students earn a "Diagnostic" score and are then placed accordingly in lessons tailored to meet grade level standards. Students can also take "Growth Measures' throughout the school year to check on their progress in the iReady Reading program. Lessons do not adjust based on Growth Measure scores and teachers can manually go into the program to change, adjust, or re-assign lessons. The iReady Reading Diagnostic Assessments give teachers information about your child's reading in the following areas: Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Comprehension: Literature, and Comprehension: Informational. Students should be familiar with using a computer mouse or track pad to take these assessments.
Acadience (formerly called DIBELS NEXT)
Acadience was previously called Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS):
The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are a set of procedures and measures for assessing the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through sixth grade. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency measures used to regularly monitor the development of early literacy and early reading skills. New name, same assessments.
Acadience is comprised of seven measures to function as indicators of phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, accuracy and fluency with connected text, reading comprehension, and vocabulary. Acadience was designed for use in identifying children experiencing difficulty in acquisition of basic early literacy skills in order to provide support early and prevent the occurrence of later reading difficulties.
The purposes of these assessments are:

The purposes of these assessments are:
- to identify students who may be at risk for reading difficulties (universal screening);
- to help teachers identify areas to target instructional support;
- to monitor at-risk students while they receive additional, targeted instruction; and
- to examine the effectiveness of your school’s system of instructional supports.
Fountas & Pinnell Baseline Assessment System (BAS)
F&P Benchmark Passages and Comprehension Quick Checks are used to determine independent and instructional reading levels.
This assessment gives information on the students’ reading level so that teachers know where to begin in the LLI program, making adjustments as the year progresses. Students take this assessment 3 times per year (Beginning, Middle, and End of Year). The assessment includes a Running Record and comprehension questions.

DIBELS Deep
These assessment tools provide educators with specific and detailed information for differentiating instruction corresponding to each of the key basic early literacy skills: Phonological Awareness, Alphabetic Principle, Accuracy and Fluency with Connected Text, Comprehension, and Vocabulary.
DIBELS Deep is an advanced assessment tool designed to provide additional in-depth information to help improve instruction for students who have not yet reached their grade-level benchmark goals, or for students who may have met some benchmark goals but are inaccurate in their skills. DIBELS Deep may be used any time an educator would like to have additional assessment on a student who is not making sufficient progress, and more information is needed for instructional planning.
DIBELS Deep measures are individually-administered, untimed diagnostic assessments of critical reading skills for students in grades K-6, and for older students with very low skills. The precise information from these assessments helps educators make informed decisions and answer questions to better target instruction for struggling readers:

The precise information from these assessments helps educators make informed decisions and answer questions to better target instruction for struggling readers:
- What types of support do students need (i.e., prompts, modeling, or scaffolding)?
- What specific skills should be the focus of instruction or intervention?
- What instructional strategies should be implemented?
